The intent of this project is threefold. First, the improvements will result in a Memorial that has a prominence that is reflective of the sacrifice made by the officers whose names are inscribed on the stones and is of a standard that is appropriate for the official State Memorial. Great care is being taken to design improvements which are tasteful, modest, and reflect the history of the Memorial.
Second, the improvements will result in a Memorial Site that is both inviting and somber. It will provide a place where people can enter and become a part of the Memorial rather than simply standing in front of it. Most importantly, the improvements will allow for people to visit the site and remember loved ones in an environment that is respectful and offers some privacy from the activity of the nearby parking lot.
Lastly, the improvements will provide a Memorial that all can visit without assistance and insure the State’s Memorial complies with all ADA regulations.
The project will be completed in three phases as described on the following pages.
Phase One was completed in early 2015. To date the third stone of the memorial, purchased in 1999, has been added and the original gray stone with inscribed names has been re-faced with “Colorado Rose” granite.
